· Fundamentals of Grant Writing  ¼

This one-day grant writing workshop provides comprehensive information about the grant writing process including the essential administrative functions required to be successful in winning grants, how to build an organizational portfolio for use in writing grants, helpful tools, types of funding sources, how to read and understand proposal guidelines and requests for proposals, the common components of proposals, and how to write compelling proposals.

Participants receive a 70-page notebook containing workshop materials. Registration includes 30-days of telephone consultation for participants.

· Overview of Proposal Writing for Administrators and Board Members ¹

This half-day grant writing workshop provides an overview of the grant writing process including an overview of strategic planning, the essential administrative functions for grant acquisition, information essential to grant acquisition, types of funding sources, reading and interpreting requests for proposals, preparing a proposal concept paper, and building an effective proposal design team.

· Budgeting for Grant Projects   : ¹

This half-day grant writing workshop prepares participants to prepare line-item budgets and budget narratives for grant applications. They learn about the most common budget categories and work through the process of identifying the resources needed to complete project activities and preparing a budget narrative for grant proposals.

· Establishing the Need  ¹

This half-day grant writing workshop prepares participants to justify the need for a grant-funded program. Participants will learn about the three parts of establishing the need for a grant-funded project: gathering relevant information, selecting pertinent information, and presenting a compelling case for the project.

· Searching for Grant Funding    : ¹

This half-day grant writing workshop prepares participants to search for funding opportunities. They will practice searching for funding from federal, state, and private funding sources on the Internet, learn how to read an IRS FORM 990 or 990-PF to identify potential private funding sources, and review a sample letter of inquiry to a foundation.

· Project Evaluation   ¼

This full-day grant writing workshop focuses on program evaluation including project design, establishing measurable objectives, and preparing an effective, well-written evaluation plan for a grant-funded program. Participants practice each step during the workshop.

· Grant Proposal Production : ¼

The Fundamentals of Grant Writing workshop is a prerequisite for this workshop.

Participants will bring a draft of a concept paper for a project or a draft proposal (and a copy of the request for proposals. Peers and the instructor will critique drafts of sections of the proposal during the workshop. Participants will gain experience both as a writer and a reader of proposals, and they will leave with a working draft of a concept paper or proposal.
